Welcome to the Mount! We wanted to make you aware of the health insurance requirement for certain groups of University students. If you will be living in our Residence Hall, joining one of our NCAA Athletics teams, or participating in Health Sciences clinical placements, you are considered a MANDATED STUDENT* and are required to provide proof of qualified health insurance coverage to the University annually. The University believes it is important that all students maintain health care coverage to help ensure academic success and personal well-being.
MANDATED STUDENTS who are currently covered under a qualified health plan** MUST complete the online health insurance waiver by Tuesday, January 17th. To complete the waiver, login to MyMount and visit the Student Health Insurance page: Student Health Insurance. Please note - this requirement is separate, and in addition to, submitting your insurance card to the Athletics Department system (ATS), or any Health Sciences system (e.g. Castle Branch, E*Value or EXXAT).
MANDATED STUDENTS who are currently uninsured or are in need of a qualified health plan** may access the Campus Unity Benefits marketplace where various types of health plans are available for purchase. Students may enroll in a medical plan for the and access vision, dental, pharmaceutical and supplemental insurance plans if needed. To purchase a health plan, login to MyMount and visit the Student Health Insurance page: Student Health Insurance.
Students who do not provide proof of health insurance to the University (that is, complete the online waiver) by the January 17th deadline, will be automatically enrolled in a short-term medical plan. Failure to provide proof of health insurance grants the University permission to auto-enroll you in a short-term medical plan and apply associated fees to your student account. Please note that short-term medical plans provide basic medical coverage and are not ACA-compliant.
